Each new year brings hopes and visions for the future. And as our clocks tick down to those final seconds in 2023, we will all surely raise a glass to welcome 2024 with open arms.
What are your goals and dreams for this new year? We set out to ask a few local residents and business owners about their
vision for 2024.
Anne Marie Hare, Owner of Bunny Hare’s Boutique & Gift Shop
“What I am looking forward to in 2024 is continuing to be active in my community by volunteering my time to help promote my fellow small businesses and service groups.” This past year, Bunny Hare’s teamed up with the Friends of Father Bill Atkinson Service Corp, to give our special needs community the opportunity to display and sell their crafts at the store. The money raised by those sales went directly to the Friends of Father Bill, which provides ways for members to grow, learn, and share the joy of being together while doing meaningful activities and serving others.
The Hamscher Family
You may recall reading about the Hamscher Family in our May 2023 issue. Matt, Allison and their three girls are always on the go, but the place they love the most is their home here in Glen Mills. When asked what they’re looking forward to in 2024, Allison said, “We’ll be welcoming a new baby in June 2024! Our daughters can’t wait to meet their new baby sister or brother.” For the first time in a long time, the Hamscher’s calendar in 2024 is pretty clear, which they’re excited about! More time at home means family time spent working on expanding their garden and continuing their DIY home renovation projects.
John D’Alessandro, Owner of Luigi & Giovanni’s
John says he doesn’t make resolutions; he sets goals, and plans to do the same this year. One thing he will try to do more of in 2024 is support the community and fellow local businesses because he says, “We need to continue to support each other to keep Newtown Edgmont’s small businesses thriving.” John and Lou are especially looking forward to welcoming more of the community to their new cafe at Ellis Preserve. “We are excited to expand our offerings this coming year to include buffet dinners, luncheons and special events.”
Chip Miller, Owner of Den of Antiquity & Christmas Shop
Chip likes to keep things simple when looking toward the future. “To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, ‘Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors and let the new year find you a better person’.”
Thank you to our Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors for sharing your hopes for this new year. Whatever your dream is for 2024, here’s to hoping it happens—and in a big way!
