Congratulations, Luke!

Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors, June 2026

We would like to congratulate Luke Merino, a senior at Penncrest High School, as the latest Rey Azteca Student of the Month!

Luke is an active member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), where he earned impressive recognition—placing 5th at the regional level and 10th in Pennsylvania. He also serves as Vice President of the International Club.

Through his Entrepreneurship Venture class, Luke developed an innovative business model called “Rent Your Driveway” (RYD), designed for beach communities where homeowners can rent out their driveways to visitors in need of parking. The concept highlights a dual-sided market opportunity. He went a step further by creating a companion parking app for RYD, a project that earned him top honors at a University of Delaware entrepreneurship competition. His success there led to an invitation to compete in the prestigious Global Diamond Challenge alongside students from around the world.

Luke has played soccer all four years of high school as a winger, serving as Varsity Captain this past season. His performance on the field earned him both All-Delco Honorable Mention and Central League Honorable Mention honors. His commitment to service is equally noteworthy. For the past four years, he has volunteered with the Delco Food Bank, assisting with donation collection, sorting and representing the organization at the Media Farmers Market.

Looking ahead, Luke plans to attend Clemson University to pursue a degree in Marketing, with aspirations of building a career at a marketing firm. We wish you continued success in all that lies ahead.
