Student of the Month: Congratulations, Luke!

Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors, September 2025

Rey Azteca is proud to recognize Luke Young, a dynamic and accomplished incoming senior at Penncrest High School, as the September Student of the Month. In honor of his exceptional commitment to both academics, athletics and the community, Luke has received a Certificate of Achievement and a gift card, generously provided by Rey Azteca, the sponsor of this award program.

Luke has enjoyed playing soccer for the past 10 years, but over time, his passion has shifted to lacrosse, which has become his primary sport. He has been playing lacrosse for six years and has competed with the Penncrest High School, Team 11 Lacrosse Team and the Delco Lacrosse Club.

In addition to athletics, Luke is actively involved in school-related volunteer work, which he values nearly as much as his academics. He has a strong interest in both Business and Psychology, having taken advanced coursework in each. He’s considering both fields as potential career paths. This past summer, Luke took the initiative to enroll in a college-level Communications course to further broaden his academic experience.

Luke has also spent several years at The Sporting Gentleman in Glen Mills, both as a camper and a camp counselor. Situated on three acres of scenic streamside land, The Sporting Gentleman promotes an appreciation for the outdoors and the art of fly fishing—something Luke has come to deeply enjoy.

As he heads into his senior year at Penncrest, Luke is excited for what lies ahead. He’s especially looking forward to continuing his academic journey in college and hopes to play lacrosse at the collegiate level.

Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors, Luke!
