Rey Azteca’s Student of the Month: Roham Shirazi

Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors, December 2023

The December Rey Azteca Student of the Month is Roham Shirazi, who is a Senior at Marple Newtown High School (MNHS), and received a Certificate of Achievement and a $25 gift card from Rey Azteca, our Sponsor of this program.

While taking four AP classes, being a member of the National Honor Society and President of both the Astronomical Society and the Tri-M Music Honors Society, Roham certainly has his academics in line, but that is just a small part of who he is. He has been a member of the MNHS marching band for five years and is now a Drum Major. He’s been playing music for 14 years, plays a variety of instruments and he’s a member of the select choir and jazz band.

Roham has been part of MNdrama for seven years and has played some major roles, including his current stint as Cedric in the Fall play “Puffs.” He is a member of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce Selectee committee for the Youth Leadership Academy, and won the First Place Youth in Excellence Award, being recognized for outstanding leadership.

Balancing these extracurriculars with his personal, academic and social life, has been very challenging, but he’s managed to learn what to prioritize over the years, while remaining flexible, open to new experiences and willing to take risks.

Roham intends to get his Bachelors Degree, although his course of study is not yet decided, and continue his education beyond to graduate studies. “Whatever I do, I want to make a positive impact (big or small) on the people around me and my environment,” shared Roham.

Congratulations again, Roham for sharing your incredibly well rounded high school experience with us! Keep us up to date on all the incredible things your do!

Know a terrific teen who should be our next Student of the Month?
Here’s what we look for – Students from grades 7 to 12 who demonstrate excellence in service to school, friendship, community or area groups, and reside within the geographical borders of the Marple, Newtown Square or Edgmont (no matter what school they attend, or if they are homeschooled). Submit your nomination, highlighting what makes them so amazing, to LJeffries@BestVersionMedia.com. Academic or athletic excellence is not required.
