Student of the Month: Congratulations Zach! May Rey Azteca’s Student of the Month

Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors, May 2024

The May Rey Azteca Student of the Month is Zach Ritchie, who is a Senior at Penncrest High School and received a Certificate of Achievement and a $25 gift card from Rey Azteca, our Sponsor of this program.

Zach has been on the Distinguished Honor Roll/Honor Roll throughout his entire high school career! He’s taken nine AP courses and has an unweighted GPA of 4.05. Along with taking his academics very seriously, Zach also enjoys being a part of numerous clubs at Penncrest, including Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa, Science Honor Society, Coding Club, Ski and Snowboard Club, The Gryphon and Economics Club. Even though he deals with color blindness, Zach has remained vigilant when it comes to accomplishing the goals he sets for himself.

In his free time, Zach volunteers at Build for Hope with Lima United Methodist Church and works as a server at Maris Grove Senior Living Center. He plays for his school’s Varsity Lacrosse team, and is described by one Penncrest faculty member as “An all-around great kid!”

Zach will be heading to college in September, where he plans to major in math, statistics and physics. He also plans to attend graduate school for a Ph.D. in data science and computational mathematics after his undergraduate course of study. His long-term future goals include becoming a scientist and mathematician.

What an incredible future you’ve built for yourself through hard work, determination and goal-setting Zach. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you “Dr. Zach Ritchie!”
