Chip Miller III and Assistant Fire Chief, Ronald Gravina
On Tuesday, August 1st, our Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors joined forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 40th Annual National Night Out (NNO). This annual event is designed to heighten drug prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime efforts, encourage neighborhood spirit and strengthen community partnerships – especially with law enforcement and first responders.
Edgmont Township Fire Company joined this movement by offering the first-ever Edgmont Night Out. Community members were invited to explore the fire trucks and equipment up close, meet the members of the volunteer fire company and enjoy time visiting with neighbors.
There were many other great activities for attendees, aside from those offered by Edgmont Fire Company. Representatives from Edgmont Township had a table to help spread the word about our upcoming Community Day on September 9th. Mr. Jason from the Middletown Library set up a table for children to test their building skills and show off their creativity. Delaware County Department of Emergency Services brought an Incident Support Trailer and an American Kennel Club Trailer used by the Animal Rescue Team with volunteer team members, and the Pennsylvania State Police invited children to sit in a police car and hit the siren. Giveaways were offered from local supporters Wawa, Starbucks and Rita’s Water Ice.
Our inaugural Edgmont Night Out was a huge success… thank you to all our volunteers and attendees!
