Race for the Watershed Duck Derby and 5K

Newtown Edgmont Friends & Neighbors, June 2026

On Saturday, June 13th, the community will gather for the Race for the Watershed Duck Derby and 5K, a lively day of fitness, family fun and environmental stewardship at Newlin Grist Mill. Held in partnership with Concord Township, the event runs from 8am to 2pm and supports important watershed protection efforts that directly impact local waterways.

The morning begins with registration for the 5K trail run at 8am, followed by a pre-race warmup led by YogaSix Glen Mills. Runners will take off at 9am, and those 21 and over can enjoy a complimentary beer from Succession Fermentory after crossing the finish line. Registration is $35.

From 10am through the afternoon, the festivities expand to include rubber duck races along Chester Creek, with participants able to enter for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. Ducks are available for $20 each or three for $50. The event also features a car show with a People’s Choice award, live music, children’s activities, local exhibitors and a lineup of food and drink vendors, including The Munch Box and Middle Brother Coffee Roasters.

Beyond the fun, the event highlights the importance of protecting Chester Creek, which is currently listed as impaired by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Proceeds help fund ongoing monitoring and restoration efforts that support wildlife, improve water quality and preserve the natural beauty of this treasured local watershed.
